Inspiration of the Day #4-5

Haha yeah got behind again, I really am bad at this... Got caught up yesterday completely rewriting the Aklehine's Gun plot and also fully revising Spires of Respite. Both of those things were accomplished yesterday, so once I get my cover the first Carabia book will be ready to publish! Very exciting stuff. Anyway, here we go!

IotD 4:
Today I am using one of the songs that really inspires one of the upcoming female characters. The song is called 'I Get Off' by Halestorm. Yes, the song is pretty much as suggestive as the name would...well...suggest. It is all about this woman who knows a man watches her undress every night through her window, and it really turns her on that is watching. Personally I have always had issues with characters who don't necessarily relate sexuality with romance, because I always believed that without emotion sex was pointless. I waited until marriage for that very reason, and so writing a character who doesn't share that viewpoint is always a challenge. I have nothing against alternate opinions on the matter, and I am really excited to try and make a character who might view sex in a more recreational light, but it is very challenging. I find that this song goes a long way to helping me get into the proper mindset to write such a character, and makes it very interesting

IotD 5:
Most of the songs I listen to are inspiring because of the lyrics, but very very rarely there is one that has no lyrics at all, or very few, that I still enjoy. One of these is by Pendulum, which is the main source of my favorite songs that lack lyrics. The song I am referring to today is called 'Voodoo People'. It is just a very upbeat and fast paced song that really gets my blood moving and helps inspire combat scenes. During the fast paced parts, I always imagine people trading blows and actually fighting, and during the lulls they are sizing each other up, trying to find a weakness in the other. Very inspiring, and the music video is just fun to watch.

For the future:
I am considering having my audience have a say in what kind of IotD's I put up. So if you want to hear more songs I listen to, hear about shows or movies, or even have specific artists I mentioned, let me know. I can tell you right now that all of the artists mentioned so far in IotD have other songs on my list that I can get into, so if any of them interest you particularly, comment and let me know! I will at the very least take your requests into consideration.
