So as some of you know, and many others do not, a lot of my inspiration actually comes from my very few dreams, and far far more frequent nightmares. Admittedly nothing that is published so far has any sign of this inspiration in it, but a lot of unused plots are pulled directly from nightmares or dreams, and actually a central character to Carabia's upcoming sequel is pulled from the most terrifying nightmare I have ever had.
Anyway, I always thought it was somewhat funny that I turn to nightmares for inspiration. But I have always had a very vivid imagination when it comes to scaring the crap out of myself at night. Having indistinct shapes all around the room in the dark is much less fun when your brain won't stop coming up with funtastically horrifying things they could potentially be! But a lot of my dreams are actually very strange and original, and of course I already know they are scary. So my real question is if anyone else gets inspired this way? Or am I just crazy as hell?
Either way, that's how I roll. This morning I actually had one of the coolest dreams ever, woke up wanting to just return to it. Sadly, I had work. But it was much more in line with the kind of light hearted, uplifting story that I have been hoping to write, and I gleaned a lot of ideas from it. Don't want to say too much just yet (especially since there has been more than one false rut buster alarm lately) but things are looking up!
BTW . . . just crazy as hell!
